Build Breakdown

Works TR-340 Package on a Five-Speed CT9A

The CT9A is the Evo that earned its reputation on broken tarmac and gravel stages, and this one reads like a car that was worked through in order rather than thrown at a catalogue. The Works TR-340 package sets the intent, but the parts around it are the tell: the intercooler and radiator a boost-hungry 4G63 needs before it needs more boost, and a gearbox refreshed five hundred miles back at a hundred and seven thousand miles. That is the spend an owner makes when the plan is another hundred thousand, not a handoff ahead of a problem.

The five-speed and the iron-block 4G63 are what a CT9A buyer is actually chasing, minus the MIVEC head the IX added later, which gives up a little low-down response in exchange for a simpler top end and a gearbox the aftermarket never stopped supporting. Work Emotion CR-Kai in 17x9 on 255-section Advan AD09 is the fitment that fills these arches without spacers or stretch, and the slotted rotors with blue pads point at a car built to be driven hard and stopped repeatedly rather than parked at a show. The Okada coil pack is a misfire fix dressed as an upgrade, which is exactly the right instinct at this mileage. What the submission does not carry is the shell: no underside frames, no look into the rear towers or along the seams and diff mounts, which is where a CT9A's future actually gets decided. The build is legible here and the body is not yet.
